The Black Keys and SSM show! (The Fillmore, September 20th)

I ♥ SSM. A lot.
So. What happened was this. I got home, went online (I had a half hour break in between school and my voice lesson) and was instant messaged by Cody White (the "ex" type person), who asked "DO YOU DRIVE?" and I said "No...why?" and blah blah blah. He was put on the guest list for the show by Johnny Hentch (err, Syzmanski) (of the Hentchmen, also of SSM). He was put on the guest list Plus One. Meaning he could bring one person. All the people he wanted to invite couldn't go. :) So that left ME! I hadn't seen him in about a year (last time I saw him, I had long blonde hair).
So, my mom drove me to the show after my voice lesson. I saw Cody...hung out for a while until the bands played...it was amazingly NOT awkward. He's very nice. I don't get the asshole vibe anymore. Haha. It was really, really fun.
SSM was amazing. I loved them SO much. I'm sure you all have heard me talk about at least one of these bands: the Hentchmen, the Sights, and the Cyril Lords. WELL SSM features Johnny from the Hentchmen, Dave Shettler from the Sights, and Marty Morris from the Cyril Lords. They were really great, and it was fun talking to Johnny and Marty afterwards (particularly Marty, who was tipsy and super nice).
The Black Keys weren't that great. The most impressive part of their set was definitely the lighting...it was INSANE. The entire house lights kept being turned on as an effect...so weird. People couldn't tell if they loved or hated it (I loved it).
Aside from the lighting, the highlights of the Black Keys' set were their covers of "Have Love, Will Travel" and "No Fun." (No Fun was their encore)
All in all, a really fun experience.

A+
SO GOOD. I've already listened to it over three times.
So good.
Especially "Feeling Good Again" and "Danube Shark Attack" and "Hey Sandy" and "I'm On Fire" and "White Dawn" and "Lowrider"
And of course, I'm in love with Anthony's cover of Peach Plum Pear. But I already knew that.
Yesterday was a nice day. So was the day before that. I hope that means it's a trend.

NUDIST COLONY OF THE DEAD! |
] |
So. Life! Life is really wonderful. I'm seriously doing quite well and it's lovely. I've gained so much confidence over the last year or so; it really helps me deal with everything sent my way.
I've been trying to stop hating people for stupid reasons. There are very, very few people that I really hate. And don't worry, if you're reading this, you're not one of them. I have made mistakes in the past, letting people influence my opinions of others. Now I realise that it REALLY is up to me to form an opinion of someone. It is ridiculous to hate someone just because your close friends do. I really like pretty much everyone; very few people give me reason to hate them.
The My Youth In Arcadia show on Friday was amazing. It was so amazing to be a part of that. It was one of the most fun experiences I've had in ages. I'll certainly never forget it. It was seriously such an honour to be a part of that. (♥s to exasperation missionary as well)
The tea party last night was super fun as well. Hilary is an amazing bakeress. Dressing up with Kelly was so amazing. We are the best twins ever. When we walked outside at my apartment, the neighbour kids... Jordan (a girl), smacked her hand on her head in disbelief. Sam fell off his bike in shock. They were SO confused. It was adorable. Anyway. Violet and Paul and everyone are positively wonderful. VANESSA, I've missed you so much.
And then going to Logan's house and watching Roseland. That movie is fucking INSANE. Logan burned me Nudist Colony of the Dead, finally. I've been watching it in the background like...every second I'm home. I think I'm going to do an a capella cover of the theme song. nudist colony of the dead! dead. dead. dead. dead. nudist colony of the dead! dead. dead. dead.
Anyway. I want to thank everyone for making my life amazing and helping make me who I am, as cheesy as that all sounds.
Hearts to some people who wouldn't expect it, or who I would never have thought to give to, (and who, in some cases, do not have a livejournal). darah. hilary. mary. probably some others too. But those are my hearts for today. Though I may not love you, and you may not love me, I don't hate you. But maybe we'll learn to love each other. 'cause some of you are pretty darn cute.

Graveyard Stomp - the Meteors |
] |

There's the good. :) YES, that is me with THREE OF THE MEMBERS OF BLANCHE!!! Hehe! Tracee Mae said I was "inspiring" and that "looking at [me] while [she] was playing, [she]felt like [she] was looking in a mirror." And I was referred to as the Little Tracee. :) :) :) And I talked to Little Jack Lawrence for a while about Holly Golightly!!! He was SO pleased looking when I said (quietly, because he is SO UNDERSPOKEN) "I absolutely love Dual Mono." And he looked me in the eyes and had this big grin and thanked me. :) And then I said something like "So you worked with Holly Golightly, then." And he started talking about how much he loved touring with her (he was in her backing band for a tour two years ago) and aahhhhh it was amazing. They are all so sincere. Lisa and Feeny are lovely too. Feeny is the most down to earth. Wow. They're so incredible.
So, on the bad note. I might have pneumonia again. SO THAT SUCKS A BIT.
Otherwise, things are great. I LOVE NIKKI AND KELLY AND KASSI AND VANESSA AND PERRY AND REID AND LUKE AND CODY. :)

| GOD IT WAS A LOVELY DAY |
[08 May 2005|12:37pm] |
|
Three best days of my life:
- Night with Triste Sin Richard right before Richard left.
- Night with Reid, Eli, Manzi, and Devon.
- LAST NIGHT. Brendan Benson. Devo Karaoke. BLAH BLAH BLAH.
So...last night (edited from ♥Nikki's♥ entry):
- Devo Karaoke at Carrows with Jewy, Rolo, and Indy. CRACK THAT WHIP.
- Seeing Jewy breakdance to BABY GOT BACK.
- Seeing Rolo again. GOD I missed that boy.
- NIKKI, I MISSED HER
- I HATE MYSELF, I WANNA DIE. Yeah, Kevin pretty much rocks.
- In the car was basically: "Fa fa fa faaa fa fa fa fa faaaa
fa, you better! run run run run run run run awayyyyy oh oh oh ohhhh
psycho killer"
- Outside of the car was (with hideous vibrato) "Aaaaaaaveeeeee Aaaaaveeeeee Maaaaaaariiiiiiiaaaaa"
- "thrashing" to Junk Girls and overusing the NorCal hand thing on purpose.
- SEX AND VIOLENCE SEX AND VIOLENCE
- Nikki
- Having that one bum with a pencil through his ear touch Nikki's hair and
laugh nervously, and then slowly pantomime what he thought I looked like (a Chinese Kung Fu master).
- Seeing that kid fall on his skateboard.
- Seeing Jewy breakdance. My GOD he's amazing.
- Dancing to Devo blasting from Indy's car outside the
Phoenix with Nikki, Jewy, Rolo, and Indy. Definitely something to
remember.
- DRINKING A ROCKSTAR FOR THE FIRST TIME W/ NIKKI...and
attempting to describe what it tastes like and wondering why I kept
drinking it even though it was giving my gag relflex a Tae-Bo workout.
Since, you know, all that wouldn't have been good enough, during the
afternoon, I saw Brendan Benson in the city. He was SO
AMAZING. It was like seeing a god perform. There is no one
I would rather hear.

So, on a happy note.
Concert Choir and Chamber Singers both got unanimous superiors yesterday at CMEA festival.
That makes four in one week for me.
String Orchestra and Full Orchestra both got unanimous superior too.
We're so fucking awesome. So, not only do I own you all at typing, it appears my orchestras and choirs own you.
PS - Unanimous Superior means that every judge gave us the rating of "superior" (under superior, there's poor, good, excellent, and probably some others)

Yes, well, I don't feel like typing right now. That's all.
